collab w/ tina 🌱

Hello!

If you're looking at this, it's because most likely we've just met and we will be working together soon. I hope this doc will help you understand how I work, how I communicate, and how we can collaborate. This isn't a rigid set-in-stone kind of doc so I'm looking forward to your thoughts and feedback to strengthen our collaboration.

1️⃣ The basics you should know about me are:

  • I will ask "How did you do this...?" about everything
  • When I do pose these questions, which may be difficult to answer sometimes, it's because I am curious and fascinated by how you approach things. I'd love to learn how you solve problems and how you think.

  • "Hey tina, check this out" If you send me reading materials or show me shortcuts or tricks in Figma, that would make me so happy. I'm aware that I do not know everything so it brings me joy that you'd share your knowledge with me.

2️⃣ My best communication patterns look like:

  • Having check-ins or syncs in the beginning of the day and end of day. We don't have to do a Google Meet or Zoom every time but I often under-communicate (and have done so in the past). I'd like to change this. I like to keep my collaborators in the loop so having stand ups or Slack updates are helpful to our collaboration. If this infringes on your communication boundaries, let me know!
  • Often asking for more clarity or context Sometimes ideas do not click for me immediately, so I will ask you to rephrase or explain one more time. Thank you for your patience🙏
  • Mixing up my idioms and expressions When I do this, please correct me lol. Some examples I've actually said out loud "She's sending me on a goose hunt" (mixed up "goose chase" & "witch hunt"). "I will need to flush this design out" (mixed up "flush" & "flesh"). English is hard.

3️⃣ I am interested in:

  • Facilitating collaborative workspaces
  • I enjoy creating space for non-designers to brainstorm and iterate ideas through discovery workshops, design reviews, impromptu brainstorming sessions, and design jams. There is no “right” and only way to get ideas going and moving.

  • Integrating AI & Machine Learning into the creative process
  • No, I don’t believe that AI & ML will make designers obsolete. I’m fascinated with the idea of copiloting my thought and making process with AI and bringing hesitant humans long for the journey.

💜 Beyond work, I’m really passionate about:

  • 🐶 Moka, my little brother! (really, he’s my family's dog back in CA) he's getting a chubby
  • 🛹  Movement! whether it’s skateboarding, roller skating, climbing, or boxing
  • ⛰️ Mountain hiking tings (even though I struggle with elevation)
